Entry Rules

Deadline:

Artists’ submissions must be postmarked by October 2, 2006 and must include a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with your photos of your work, entry fee and completed entry form. Artists must attend a meeting at the Pico House Gallery on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 1 PM and deliver their work.

Pico House Gallery
424 North Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012
(Adjacent to Olvera Street by the Placita)

Works Accepted:

Heartfelt works of art are being solicited: altars, painting, sculptures, photography, etchings, mix-media, and more. It is essential that the work represent the true meaning of Dia De Los Muertos. Criteria of acceptance is based on a genuine significance or originality of the true meaning of the Dia De Los Muertos. All 2- and 3-dimensional media invited.

Ideally, some of the altar entries would include interactive elements that would allow public participation. For example, if you created an altar for a loved one who died of cancer, you could dedicate it to that person as well as all cancer victims. Many of our visitors in the past have been very grateful for the opportunity to put photos or simply add the names of their beloved on the altar. It has been quite touching and it gives the gallery a life of its own.

Selection of work will be made from a photograph of work. Submit one photo for each 2-dimensional piece and two photos for each 3-dimensional piece (front and back). Each artist may submit up to three works of art for jurying. All flatwork must be ready for hanging with hangers and wire-attached.

Entry Fees

Artists may submit a maximum of three entries, in one or both categories. The entry fee is $20 for one entry, $30 for two or three entries. All fees are non-refundable.

Please make your check payable to Rondeau
and mail with your photos, entry forms, and SASE to:

If the size or weight of 3-dimensional work exceeds what a representative of Rondeau Fine Arts can easily handle (we have great inner strength), the artist will need to transport the piece(s) directly to the Pico House on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 1 PM at the Artist’s Meeting that each artist must attend. Photographs are assumed to be accurate representations of actual works or the meaning of Dia De Los Muertos. The curator will reserve the right to reject any accepted work not accurately represented by the photographs. Artwork must be picked-up by the artist, Sunday,  November 26, 2006 between 6 PM - 9 PM.
