Bienvenidos! Happy New Years!

The New Year
|
The new year is frequently the time of new resolutions, new plans and new dreams. We look toward the future and reflect on the traditions of the past with our family and loved ones. Although 2004 brought more than it’s share of tragedy, both natural and man-made, we unabashedly greet 2005 with the hope we can make a difference with a desire for a better world.

Recent History
|
In December historic Olvera Street near Downtown Los Angeles celebrated “Las Posadas,” a beautiful presentation of the nine-day journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. The event was reenacted evenings from December 16 to 24 with singing, a candlelight procession and the breaking of the piñata. We were excited to share our event with families and friends during this holiday season.
In addition, on December 11 and 12, we commemorated the miracle of “La Virgen De Guadalupe.” Families brought their children dressed-up in authentic costumes throughout the day and night as they enjoyed the festivities on Olvera Street. We will be adding photographs of the events online later this month for you to view.

Celebration Wednesday, February 2nd, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Fiesta De La Candelaria
This religious celebration marks the end of the Christmas festivities observing the birth of Christ. La Candelaria commemorates the day when Christ was presented in the temple by his parents, following Jewish practice. Mexican families celebrate by "raising" the Christ Child figure from the nativity scene. The Christ figures and icons are also brought to the church to be blessed. Finally the nativity set is put away until the beginning of the next season’s Christmas celebrations.
Blessing begins at 5:00 p.m. Free entertainment and refreshments.
